Some basic advice for outfits.

These pointers are not hard rules, just loose guidelines. Let’s make sure you look fantastic for your portraits, but more importantly, let’s make sure you are authentically YOU. So pick outfits that you love and feel comfortable in.

Colors to avoid:

Avoid neon colours because these colours reflect a lot of light.

My favorite choices for portraits are warm earthy tones, pastel shades or neutrals like greys, blacks and whites/off-whites.

Recommended:

For a beautiful, elegant, timeless portrait, we always suggest wearing plain solid colours or solids on textured fabrics.

For some color accents, go for complementing accessories - like a tie for men, or jewelry, scarves for women - as examples.

Avoid contrasty stripes, small checkers, busy prints and brand logos.

Busy and contrasty printed outfits become distracting for the viewer’s eye.

Brand logos and graphic prints will not only make the portrait seem less professional, but also make it dated (it does not age well).

Iron out wrinkles. Polish your shoes.

Love is in the details. And those little details matter especially when we are making portraits that are meant to age well.

We have an iron and a steamer for your clothes if you need one. But take necessary steps before you arrive for your shoot to avoid delays.

Check your clothes, accessories and shoes for any stains and rips!
